Looking Back to Spring Forward 🌱
After a long and busy winter for our team, we are emerging into a spring and summer full of exciting opportunities and plans. In upcoming newsletters we’ll reflect back on a collaboration with educators at the Clubhouse Network that explored multiple entry points to tinkering with animation, code, and a mix of meaningful and everyday materials. We’ll also look forward and share more about ongoing research and design efforts.
In the meantime, we’d like to invite you to participate in some collaborative, virtual tinkering with mark-making and scribbling machines. We’re calling this invitation “Mark Making May”:
Exploring different ways to collaborate with and learn alongside our (virtual and physical) communities is an important aspect of the Facilitating Computational Tinkering project. Finding meaningful ways to connect computing with making and tinkering explorations is also core to our work. We’ve noticed that many of our partner educators and learners enjoy the process of building and tinkering with scribbling machines, and we’re excited to investigate how computing can expand or transform this popular activity.
We hope that some of you will join us in this experiment by making and sharing your own creations, or following along as Mark Making May unfolds. For now, invitations will be shared via Twitter and we encourage you to share your thoughts and experiments using whichever social media platform you prefer– just be sure to use the hashtag #MarkMakingMay and keep an eye out for more information about different ways to participate.
Tinkering Together is a monthly newsletter crafted by a community of educators and researchers sharing explorations in designing and facilitating computational tinkering experiences that strive towards equity and joy.
